Gate News message, April 29 — Following the death of ASOS co-founder Quentin Griffiths on February 9, 2026, in Pattaya, Thailand, approximately $4 million in Bitcoin assets from his wallet were transferred to unknown addresses in three separate transactions within days of his death. Thai police have launched an investigation into the matter.
Griffiths’ eldest son, Joel, filed a police report approximately six weeks after his father’s death. Lawyer Mona Mankong stated that the funds were transferred to “mysterious addresses” with unknown destinations and questioned whether Joel possessed access rights to the wallet. Thai authorities have determined that Griffiths’ death involved no suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement. In October 2025, Griffiths was convicted of fraud by a Thai court, sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for allegedly forging documents and illegally removing his ex-wife Ploy Kringsinthanakun from the board of a family property company. He had appealed the conviction and remained free pending the appeal outcome.
The family is currently embroiled in custody disputes over Griffiths’ children with Ploy. Joel has requested to bring the children back to the United Kingdom, while Ploy insists on maintaining full custody in Thailand.
