Pi Network mainnet gets faster again! 109,000 users complete a second migration, and ecosystem rollout enters a critical phase

Gate News message: In 2026, the Pi Network mainnet rollout reached a new milestone with the addition of a new node. The project team confirmed that over 119,000 users have completed the second migration. This data marks an important stage in the network’s transition from “mining-driven” to “application-driven.” The progress began after Pi Day 2026, when the system started opening the second migration feature in batches.

The so-called second migration refers to, after the first mainnet migration is completed, allowing users to transfer additional Pi balances into their mainnet accounts, including rewards obtained through referral mechanisms. However, this process has clear thresholds: referred members must complete KYC verification, otherwise the corresponding rewards cannot be unlocked. This mechanism directly impacts the amount of assets users can ultimately migrate and also encourages the community to accelerate identity verification.

From an operational perspective, second migration involves complex data calculations, including different mining cycles and user activity records. To ensure accuracy, the team conducted multiple rounds of testing before the official launch, so the rollout has been relatively cautious. Meanwhile, the project continues to prioritize completing the migration process for the first batch of users to ensure that early participants’ rights and benefits are not diluted. The official emphasizes that both phases are progressing in parallel, but the first phase always takes precedence.

In terms of ecosystem development, Pi Network is gradually expanding practical application scenarios. With the launch of tools such as Pi Launchpad and Pi App Studio, some applications now support mainnet interactions. Users are no longer limited to single mining activities but are beginning to participate in a broader range of on-chain activities. This shift further underscores the significance of second migration, helping to improve token circulation efficiency and increase network activity.

However, disagreements still exist within the community. Some users have fallen behind due to delays in KYC review or because they have not yet completed the first migration, leading to differing sentiments. Nevertheless, current data shows that the system continues to advance steadily. The key moving forward will be whether migration efficiency, ecosystem application deployment, and user growth can sustain, as these factors will directly determine whether Pi Network can successfully transition into a real economic system.

Pi Network PIRC baseline protection mechanism sparks controversy, implying a “quasi-stablecoin” logic

Pi Network member Daniel F raised a logical contradiction in the PIRC token design, noting that if it has a 23.8% floor protection, it would need to behave like a stablecoin, which conflicts with its high volatility on CEX. This floor is based on Pi’s price calculations; if Pi itself fluctuates significantly, it will be unable to effectively protect holders. Daniel emphasized the importance of transparency, but the project team did not respond to it, leading the community to continue speculating about the reasons for its silence.
