Openeden Partners With BNY Investments to Launch Tokenized Credit Product

Openeden has launched HYBOND, a tokenized product offering onchain access to a BNY-managed high-yield bond strategy. The move expands institutional-grade fixed income options in the growing RWA market.

BNY Strategy Goes Onchain Through Openeden Token Launch

Openeden has introduced HYBOND, a new tokenized investment product that gives eligible investors onchain access to a high-yield bond strategy managed by BNY Investments. The launch marks a step forward in bringing more complex financial instruments into the tokenized asset space.

HYBOND is designed to mirror the performance of BNY Investments’ Global Short-Dated High-Yield Bond strategy. Investors gain exposure through tokens, while the underlying assets remain managed within a traditional fund structure. This setup combines blockchain-based access with established regulatory oversight.

The product builds on early momentum in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. So far, much of the sector has focused on cash-like instruments such as treasury bills and money market funds. HYBOND moves further along the risk spectrum by offering corporate credit exposure.

Openeden said the goal is to expand the range of institutional products available onchain. CEO Jeremy Ng described the launch as a natural next step after tokenized treasury strategies gained traction.

Tokenization has proven its product market fit with cash-equivalent and treasury strategies. By working with BNY Investments, we are offering qualified investors access to top-tier fixed-income strategies combined with the programmability that digital asset infrastructure provides.

BNY, a major global financial services firm, will act as the investment manager for the underlying assets. The firm already works with Openeden on its tokenized treasury fund, where it serves as both manager and custodian.

“This launch demonstrates how tokenization can be applied to established investment strategies to broaden the range of investment options on-chain,” said Doni Shamsuddin, Head of Asia Pacific, BNY Investments.

The structure is designed to appeal to professional investors. It offers access to actively managed credit strategies while maintaining compliance with traditional financial standards. At the same time, tokenization allows for greater transparency and programmability.

The launch reflects a broader shift in digital finance, with tokenized products moving beyond simple instruments into more sophisticated asset classes. For the RWA sector, this signals a new phase aimed at expanding product depth and attracting institutional capital.
