On Monday, April 14, local time, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office said the suspect who attacked OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman last week, Daniel Moreno-Gama, has been charged with attempted murder. A Department of Justice news release shows the suspect is also facing federal charges, including attempting to use explosives to destroy property and possessing an unregistered firearm illegally. According to a criminal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court in San Francisco on Monday, Daniel Moreno-Gama was arrested after the Friday attack; San Francisco police officers found a document on him detailing his intentions. In the document, Daniel Moreno-Gama stated his intention to kill Altman and warned that humanity would be “about to go extinct” because of artificial intelligence.
