Meta has released a brand-new AI model, Muse Spark, and it’s set to roll out on platforms like FB and IG. The new feature has driven a surge in downloads of the Meta AI app, jumping into the top five in the United States, with total global installs surpassing 60.50 million.
Meta recently announced the launch of its new AI model Muse Spark. This is the first model released after Meta’s super intelligent labs head Alexandr Wang was recruited from Scale AI to Meta last year and restructured its AI business.
Muse Spark is already live in Meta AI’s U.S. app and website, and is expected to be rolled out to platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Meta smart glasses within the next few weeks, officially replacing the existing Llama model.
Muse Spark has the following features and advantages:
According to Meta’s official introduction, Muse Spark supports cross-domain integration of text, images, audio, and video.
The model has a visual reasoning chain and tool-use capabilities, enabling it to help users build small games, or use annotated images to help rule out household appliance faults.

Meta collaborated with more than 1,000 doctors to plan and curate training data, thereby improving Muse Spark’s health reasoning capabilities so it can generate interactive charts that explain in detail food nutrition components or the muscle groups activated during exercise.
Muse Spark’s deep reasoning mode can coordinate multiple smart agents to perform reasoning at the same time, clearly improving Muse Spark’s performance on challenging tasks. It achieved a 58% completion rate on “the human final exam” task, and a 38% completion rate on “frontier scientific research” task.
The independent evaluation organization Artificial Analysis rated it 52 points on the AI index, placing it tied for 4th with Claude Sonnet 4.6.

According to a report by Techcrunch, after Muse Spark was launched, downloads of the Meta AI app showed clear growth.
Data from market intelligence provider Appfigures shows that before the model launched, the Meta AI App was ranked 57th; after launch, it surged to 5th place on the U.S. App Store, indicating a large wave of new installs.
Another market intelligence firm, Sensor Tower, estimates that Meta AI had about 46,000 U.S. iOS app downloads on April 8, 2026, with a 87% increase on a single day; while on Android, U.S. downloads increased by 3% on a single day.
To catch up with competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic, Meta not only invested $14.3 billion in Scale AI, but also spent tens of billions of dollars recruiting AI talent. It’s also recently been reported that Meta acquired the OpenClaw ecosystem project “Lobster Community” Moltbook.
Appfigures’ data shows that currently the cumulative installs of the Meta AI app on the global App Store and Google Play have reached 60.50 million times, of which 25 million downloads occurred this year.
In the past five months, the Meta AI app’s download volume increased by 138% compared with the first five months before launch. India is currently the largest market for Meta AI downloads; followed by the United States, Brazil, Pakistan, and Mexico.
In addition to the Meta AI app, Sensor Tower data shows that the number of daily webpage visitors for Meta AI in the United States grew by more than 450% in a single day, setting a historical high on April 8, 2026. Compared with the average value from the most recent 30 days, the number of visitors increased by more than 570%.
