Meta’s new AI model, Muse Spark, is unveiled! Rolling out to FB and IG within a few weeks—Meta AI App jumps into the top five

Meta has released a brand-new AI model, Muse Spark, which is set to launch on platforms such as FB and IG. The new feature has driven a surge in downloads of the Meta AI app, propelling it into the top five in the U.S. rankings, with total global installations exceeding 60.5 million.

Meta’s new AI model Muse Spark hits the spotlight—what can it do?

Meta recently announced the launch of a new AI model, Muse Spark. This is the first model released after Meta’s top AI lab head, Alexandr Wang, was recruited to Meta last year from Scale AI and reorganized the AI business.

Muse Spark has already gone live on Meta AI’s U.S. applications and website, and is expected to be rolled out to platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Meta smart glasses within the next few weeks, officially replacing the older Llama model.

Muse Spark has the following key features and advantages:

Native multimodality, can generate small games

According to Meta’s official description, Muse Spark supports cross-domain integration of text, images, audio, and video.

The model has visual reasoning chain and tool-use capabilities, helping users build small games, or use labeled images to rule out appliance malfunctions.

Focused on the health domain, can generate interactive charts

Meta partnered with over 1,000 physicians to plan and train the data, thereby improving Muse Spark’s health reasoning capabilities, enabling it to generate interactive charts that explain in detail the nutritional components of foods or the muscle groups activated during exercise.

Deep thinking mode and multi-agent collaboration

Muse Spark’s deep thinking mode can coordinate multiple agents to conduct reasoning synchronously, clearly boosting Muse Spark’s performance on challenging tasks. It achieved a 58% completion rate on the “Humanity’s Last Exam” task and a 38% completion rate on the “Frontier Scientific Research” task.

Independent evaluation organization Artificial Analysis rated it 52 points in the AI index; it is currently tied with Claude Sonnet 4.6 for 4th place.

Muse Spark’s launch drives the Meta AI App into the top five on the charts

According to a report by Techcrunch, after Muse Spark was released, installations of the Meta AI App saw a clear increase.

Data from app intelligence provider Appfigures shows that before the model launch, the Meta AI App ranked 57th; after the launch, it jumped to 5th on the U.S. App Store—indicating a wave of large-scale new installs.

Another market intelligence company, Sensor Tower, estimates that Meta AI had about 46,000 U.S. iOS application downloads on April 8, 2026, with a 87% increase in a single day. Meanwhile, on Android systems, U.S. downloads increased by 3% in a single day.

Meta AI App total installations surpass 8B

To catch up with competitors such as OpenAI and Anthropic, Meta, in addition to investing $14.3 billion in Scale AI, has also spent tens of billions of dollars recruiting AI talent. It has recently also been reported that Meta acquired the OpenClaw ecosystem project “Lobster Community” Moltbook.

Appfigures’ data shows that currently, the cumulative installation volume of the Meta AI App on global app stores—App Store and Google Play—has reached 60.5 million, including 25 million downloads that occurred this year.

In the past five months, the Meta AI App’s download volume increased by 138% compared with the first five months before it was listed. India is currently the largest market for Meta AI downloads; next come the United States, Brazil, Pakistan, and Mexico in that order.

In addition to the Meta AI App, Sensor Tower data shows that in the U.S., the daily number of website visitors for Meta AI grew by more than 450% in a single day, hitting a record high on April 8, 2026. Compared with the average value from the most recent 30 days, the number of visitors increased by more than 570%.
