Meta’s new AI model Muse Spark debuts! It’s expected to be rolled out to FB and IG within a few weeks, and the Meta AI app is set to break into the top five

Meta has released a brand-new AI model, Muse Spark, which is set to launch on platforms such as FB and IG. New features have driven a surge in downloads of the Meta AI app, moving it into the top five in the United States, with total global installations surpassing 60.5 million times.

Meta’s new AI model Muse Spark hits the spotlight—what can it do?

Meta recently announced the launch of a new AI model, Muse Spark. This is the first model released after Meta recruited its “super smart lab” head Alexandr Wang from Scale AI last year and reorganized its AI business.

Muse Spark is already live in Meta’s Meta AI apps and website in the United States. It is expected that within the next few weeks, it will be rolled out to platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Meta smart glasses, formally replacing the existing Llama model.

Muse Spark has the following features and advantages:

Native multi-modal—it can generate mini-games

According to Meta’s official introduction, Muse Spark supports cross-domain integration of text, images, audio, and video.

The model has a visual reasoning chain and tool-usage capabilities. It can help users build small games, or resolve household appliance issues by using annotated images to rule out faults.

Focused on the health domain—it can generate interactive charts

Meta partnered with more than 1,000 physicians to plan training data, thereby improving Muse Spark’s health reasoning capabilities. This enables it to generate interactive charts that explain in detail food nutrition components or the muscle groups activated during exercise.

A deep-thinking mode and multi-agent collaboration

Muse Spark’s deep-thinking mode can coordinate multiple agents to perform reasoning simultaneously, clearly improving Muse Spark’s ability in challenging tasks. It achieved a 58% completion rate in the “Humanity’s last exam” task, and a 38% completion rate in the “Frontier science research” task.

Independent evaluation organization Artificial Analysis rated it 52 points on its AI index, currently tied for 4th place with Claude Sonnet 4.6.

Muse Spark’s launch drives the Meta AI app into the top five of the rankings

According to a report from Techcrunch, after Muse Spark was released, there was a noticeable increase in installations of the Meta AI app.

Data from market intelligence provider Appfigures shows that the Meta AI app’s ranking before the model launch was 57th; after the launch, it jumped to 5th place on the U.S. App Store, indicating a wave of many new installs.

Another market intelligence company, Sensor Tower, estimates that Meta AI had about 46,000 U.S. iOS app downloads on April 8, 2026, with a 87% increase on the day. Meanwhile on Android, U.S. downloads increased by 3% on the day.

Total installations of the Meta AI app surpass 8B times

To catch up with competitors such as OpenAI and Anthropic, Meta, in addition to investing $14.3 billion in Scale AI, has also spent tens of billions of dollars to recruit AI talent. It has recently also been reported that it acquired the OpenClaw ecosystem project “Lobster Community” Moltbook.

Appfigures’ data shows that the current cumulative installation count of the Meta AI app on the global App Store and Google Play has reached 60.5 million times, with 25 million downloads occurring this year.

In the past five months, the Meta AI app’s download volume increased by 138% compared with the five months before it was listed. India is currently the largest market for Meta AI downloads, followed by the United States, Brazil, Pakistan, and Mexico.

In addition to the Meta AI app, Sensor Tower’s data shows that the number of daily web visitors for Meta AI in the United States grew by more than 450% day over day, reaching a historical high on April 8, 2026. Compared with the average value of the most recent 30 days, the number of visitors increased by more than 570%.
