Gate News message, April 19 — A Korean counterfeit gang is selling forged official documents through Telegram, with a preference for cryptocurrency or digital gift card payments, according to DL News. Fake diplomas from Yonsei University are priced at approximately $200, while admission certificates are listed at around $100. Forged diplomas from overseas universities fetch approximately $341.
Beyond diplomas, the gang also offers counterfeit driver licenses, family relationship certificates, criminal record clearances, and bank loan documents. The operation demonstrates how cryptocurrency enables anonymous transactions for illicit document forgery services.
According to South Korean authorities, arrests related to document forgery cases nearly doubled between 2021 and 2023, reflecting growing concerns over the proliferation of such illegal operations.
