Iran Announces Comprehensive Plan for Strait of Hormuz Management

GateNews

Gate News message, April 25 — An Iranian Islamic Parliament member, Behnam Saeidi, announced that Iran has formulated a comprehensive plan for managing the Strait of Hormuz. According to the statement, the plan includes three key provisions: recognition of only the name “Persian Gulf” in all correspondence and commercial documents, with no alternative names accepted; mandatory authorization from Iran for all vessels and ships navigating the region; and full Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

The announcement underscores Iran’s assertive stance on regional maritime governance and its claim to exclusive control over one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes.
