HEK and the Tezos Foundation are now putting real shape around their 2026 partnership, starting with the appointment of Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti as the curatorial team for its first virtual exhibition. A digital art show built around what the internet hides The exhibition, titled 404_LAND, is scheduled to open on June 12 on HEK’s virtual platform and run through mid-August. Scalera and Cramerotti are approaching the project through a fairly pointed concept. Rather than treating the internet error message as a glitch or dead end, they are using it as a lens to explore the overlooked zones of online space — the hidden layers, unreachable addresses and gaps inside systems shaped by algorithms, IP networks and firewalls. That gives the show a more interesting starting point than the usual language around digital immersion or virtual experience. The framing is less about celebrating technology and more about examining the structures that decide what gets seen, what gets blocked and what disappears into the background. The two curators are already well known for operating across both institutional art settings and digitally native contexts. Their past work includes projects such as Art Dubai Digital, as well as advisory roles tied to major cultural bodies. That background makes them a logical fit for a partnership that sits somewhere between contemporary art, virtual exhibition design and blockchain-based distribution. Virtual access, museum presence and Tezos-based NFTs The show will be available online through HEK’s virtual space, but it will not live only on the web. HEK said visitors will also be able to access it through a dedicated kiosk inside the museum lobby, creating a bridge between the physical institution and the virtual exhibition environment. Another part of the rollout will be the release of accompanying NFTs on objkt.com, built on Tezos, along with a virtual opening tour led by the curators. The full curatorial statement and the list of participating artists are expected in May. For Tezos, the project continues a broader pattern. The blockchain has steadily deepened its footprint in digital art circles, especially among artists and institutions looking for an onchain layer that fits cultural programming more comfortably than the louder parts of crypto. For HEK, the collaboration looks like a way to keep expanding its role as a museum willing to treat virtual space not as an add-on, but as a legitimate exhibition format in its own right.
