GateNews

Gate News message, April 21 — The EU Commission announced on April 21 that it has decided, based on the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), to require the replacement of a Chinese subcontractor in a consortium working on the Lisbon metro project, citing allegations of “distortive subsidies.”

The China Chamber of Commerce in the EU expressed strong opposition and deep concern, stating that the decision violates principles of proportionality, non-discrimination, due process, and rules-based transparency. The chamber called on the EU to immediately correct the measure and avoid undue interference with market participants.

The chamber reiterated its commitment to maintaining an open, transparent, and rules-based business environment, and expressed support for stakeholders to take measures to protect their legitimate rights and interests.
