Gate News message, April 16 — The Ethereum Foundation has announced the completion of its 6-month ETH Rangers project, which funded 17 independent researchers to contribute to public security in the Ethereum ecosystem. The initiative yielded significant results across vulnerability research, security tool development, threat intelligence, and incident response.
Key achievements include recovering or freezing over $5.8 million in assets, identifying and documenting 785+ vulnerabilities and client issues, identifying approximately 100 attackers, and creating security education content that reached over 209,000 users. The project also handled 36+ security incidents, engaged 800+ teams in security challenges, and produced 80+ technical presentations and training sessions.
Additionally, the researchers developed or improved 7+ open-source security tools. The Ethereum Foundation emphasized that the results demonstrate that decentralized networks require “decentralized defense” and that the initiative has significantly strengthened the overall security and resilience of the Ethereum ecosystem.
