Jin10 reported on August 18 that a designer who previously collaborated with Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that Zelensky might choose more formal attire when meeting Trump in Washington on Monday. Ukrainian designer Elvira Gasanova said, “He is very likely not to wear a polo shirt tomorrow… I think he will opt for a black military-style suit or a shirt in military style paired with trousers—maybe a jacket.” Gasanova noted that Zelensky has faced criticism for his informal attire in the past, and he might choose “a more serious outfit—though not as symbolic.” Zelensky has been criticized for his dressing style, including during a tense meeting in February when he visited the Oval Office, where a reporter asked Zelensky why he refused to wear a suit, after which Zelensky had an intense argument with Trump and Vance.
