SenseNova U1 Cuts Image Generation Costs to One-Tenth of ChatGPT Images 2.0, SenseTime Posts First Profitable Half in 2025

According to a recent CNBC interview, SenseTime co-founder and chief scientist Lin Dahua said the company’s latest model SenseNova U1 has image generation capabilities behind OpenAI’s GPT Image 2 and Google’s Gemini Nano Banana, but costs only one-tenth of ChatGPT Images 2.0. SenseNova U1 is a unified multimodal model based on the proprietary NEO-unify architecture, integrating language and vision processing into a single system to improve speed and efficiency.

SenseTime’s 2025 net loss narrowed 58.6%, with EBITDA turning positive in the second half for the first time since its 2021 IPO. Facing U.S. sanctions, the company is shifting its overseas expansion focus to Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, and Brazil.
