XAI Grok Adds Custom Voices: 2-Minute Cloning, Two-Stage Identity Verification
xAI released Grok Custom Voices. Users record about a one-minute voice in the console, and within two minutes the platform produces customized voice models usable for the TTS and Voice Agent API. It also simultaneously launched Grok 4.3 and the Voice Library. To prevent cloning, it uses a two-stage verification process: first, read a verification sentence, then compare the speaker embedding to ensure only the same person can generate voices. Berkeley GEPA analysis: AI can learn new tasks without updating weights, with 35 times less training cost than RL
GEPA is a new AI training method proposed by the UC Berkeley team: it does not update weights, does not require GPUs, and improves performance by having reflective LLMs read the full task logs and rewrite prompts, rather than only providing feedback via scores. The six tasks average a win rate improvement of 6%, with a maximum of 20%, and training rollouts are reduced by 35x. Integrated with DSPy, the Full Program Adapter shows significant improvements in mathematical and multimodal workflows, with 93% accuracy. The code is open-sourced, and the authors include Matei Zaharia and others.
