A large new oil painting titled "The Entire Universe" is scheduled to be exhibited for the first time at the Bitcoin 2026 conference in Las Vegas, where the painting depicts all 21 million Bitcoin coins through precisely hand-drawn beads. This work, created by artist Anik Malcolm, is the first artwork to represent each Bitcoin coin individually within the protocol's static display using a labor-intensive method. The project aims to transform the concept of Bitcoin's scarcity from a mere theoretical idea into a tangible reality.
Turning the Bitcoin Static Display into Art
The maximum supply of Bitcoin, 21 million coins, is a fundamental feature embedded in its protocol, often referenced but rarely understood in a physical sense. Anik Malcolm, an artist known for blending mathematics and visual arts, sought to make the magnitude of this number and its precision more apparent. Malcolm was inspired by his wife Ona, who suggested using a cube made of beads, dedicating over 900 hours to complete this detailed painting, where each bead represents one Bitcoin.
