According to official news, American Express announced that it is accelerating its AI payments rollout and has launched a developer toolkit for “Agentic Commerce.” American Express said it will reduce fraud and dispute risks by, among other measures, only making payment credentials available to verified AI agents and verifying cardholders’ identities. It also promised purchase protection for erroneous transactions generated by registered AI agents. American Express also said that its existing transaction dispute resolution mechanisms can cover scenarios involving improper actions by AI agents, to enhance user trust and drive transaction growth. It further stated that it has developed “multiple plans” for stablecoins and may explore stablecoin settlement scenarios, but did not disclose specific details.
