Some cold, hard facts about hotels:

1. First: Those thin disposable slippers in hotels are not actually meant for you to wear directly on your feet. Their real purpose is as "foot covers."
2. Second: The bed runner at the foot of the bed in hotels is not for decoration but to prevent you from placing your luggage directly on the bed and soiling the bedding.
3. Third: The cups in hotel rooms are rarely thoroughly disinfected; try not to use them if possible.
4. Fourth: Many hotel bathrooms do not have exhaust fans; they rely on air conditioning for ventilation.
5. Fifth: Hotel room key cards look the same on the surface, but the chips inside are different, corresponding to different rooms.
6. Sixth: Hotel shampoos and body washes are generally of poor quality; if you have specific requirements, it’s best to bring your own.
7. Seventh: Some hotel windows cannot be opened, not because they are broken, but for safety reasons.
8. Eighth: The "emergency call" button on hotel phones often does not connect directly to rescue services.
9. Ninth: Free mineral water in hotels is usually only provided on the first day unless explicitly stated; it will not be replenished afterward.
10. Tenth: Hotel mattresses are usually firmer than those at home, to facilitate cleaning and extend their lifespan.
