The second round of talks between the US and Iran may be held this Thursday, with Islamabad and Geneva as possible alternative locations

After the previous round of negotiations between the US and Iran failed to reach an agreement, both sides are still staying in touch and are discussing arrangements for a second round of face-to-face talks.
According to reports from foreign media, US government officials are internally discussing the specific arrangements for holding a second round of talks before the temporary ceasefire agreement expires, and whether the talks can ultimately take place will depend on the progress of exchanges among all parties over the next few days.
Regarding the location of the talks, two main options are currently being considered. Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, is under discussion again as a potential venue for the talks, and Geneva, Switzerland, is also listed as a possible alternative location.
Insiders said that before Islamabad was finalized as the venue for the last negotiations, several other alternative locations were considered, including Vienna, Austria, and Istanbul, Turkey, but at present Geneva and Islamabad are again being put back on the shortlist for consideration.
Although the specific scheduling of the talks has not yet been finalized, there are reports suggesting that the talks could take place on Thursday. However, according to reports on RIA Novosti’s social media, the next “direct negotiations” between the US and Iran may be held in Islamabad on the 16th.
It is worth noting that the US and Iran are making progress in their efforts to reach an agreement. A message from a US official said that contacts between the US and Iran are still ongoing and that progress is being made toward an agreement.
In addition, according to informed sources, the US and Iran may extend the current ceasefire deadline by another two weeks based on the progress of communication over the next few days, in order to allow more time for subsequent negotiations.
