A China Hong Kong–registered container ship, “COSCO Northern Arctic,” and “COSCO Indian Ocean,” which have been stuck in the Persian Gulf for more than a month, successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the morning of March 31 Beijing time. This is the first time since the end of February that our country’s large vessels have passed through the Strait of Hormuz, restoring confidence in the tense global supply chain. A reporter’s query of the vessel-tracking data system found that in the evening of March 30 Beijing time, “COSCO Northern Arctic” and “COSCO Indian Ocean” anchored in the waters near Dubai, sailed along a route between Qeshm Island—the largest island of Iran—and Larak Island, at a speed of around 10.4 knots, through the narrow exit of the Strait of Hormuz, and then headed into the waters of the Gulf of Oman. The vessel-tracking data system shows that the two ships are expected to arrive at Port Klang in Malaysia on April 6. (Shenzhen News Network)
