I just tried making money on X (Twitter), and honestly, it’s easier than I initially thought. Sharing quickly because I see many of you asking about this.
First, to enable monetization on X, you need: 5 million impressions, 500 followers, and a blue check (that can be purchased for $8/month). The cool part is that X shares 97% of ad revenue for the first $50,000, and then 80%—much higher than many other platforms. So I think the opportunity here is pretty big.
As for strategy, the hardest part is the first 500 followers. I do it like this: choose a niche you understand well, write quality content with the right hashtags, and interact frequently with other people (not just retweeting, but replying meaningfully). Longer threads are easier to get shared than single tweets. And short 20-second videos are very effective too.
After enabling monetization, I have to set up a Stripe account—the process is a bit long, but not complicated. Enter your personal information, verify your identity with CCCD, and link your bank account. Note: enter your name without diacritics in the order First-Last (e.g., A Nguyen Van instead of Nguyễn Văn A).
The ways to make money on X aren’t only from sharing ad revenue. You can sell your own course ($8–20 for the first course), become an agent for other people’s products, or provide consulting in your niche once you’ve built a reputation. I’ve seen many people earn $100–$500 per month from small courses.
A little experience/piece of advice: if your income hasn’t reached $10, it will carry over to the next month. If the money is low, it could be because ads are being shown to people who haven’t verified their identity, or because the content isn’t suitable for ads. High views but few comments is also an issue.
Actually, making money on X isn’t difficult—just stay persistent in building valuable content. I encourage everyone to give it a try, especially if you already have some knowledge you can share.
