Anthropic accidentally deleted repositories on GitHub

Anthropic found itself at the center of a high-profile incident after fragments of the Claude Code tool's source code were leaked. The company filed complaints with GitHub, resulting in approximately 8,100 repositories being deleted, including forks of the official project. Later, Anthropic clarified that the cause was an employee error and that user data was not affected. After reviewing the data, most of the complaints were withdrawn, and GitHub restored access to the materials.
