Che, I recently started looking for different ways to celebrate love without it being so typical, you know? Because the 14th is fine, but the reality is that sometimes you don’t make it or the day just doesn’t work out. The important thing is the intention, nothing more.
I found some pretty cool places around Buenos Aires. There’s a bar in Chacarita called Yakinilo, like a Japanese izakaya, with a very intimate vibe and a playlist that sets the mood. They do omakase dinners with Japanese appetizers, sushi, and yakitori, costing around 80,000 per person and including wine or non-alcoholic drinks. That’s good if you want something relaxed but special.
Then there’s the NH Collection in the historic center. Chef Martín Jatip prepares a three-course menu, and the dessert is out of this world: dark chocolate with smoked orange in cherry wood, creating a smoky effect when it arrives at the table. All for 60,000 plus VAT, and the view of the historic district’s domes is priceless.
If you prefer a more laid-back vibe, Punto Mona offers “weddings for a day” with a cura-actor included, live DJ, and then a romantic menu with sushi and cocktails. It’s a bit crazy, but it helps you get over wedding fears in a fun way. This year, you can even renew vows if you’ve done it before.
Another good option is staying home. If you like Japanese food, Norimoto offers delivery of hand rolls and sashimi with trout and red tuna. Or if you prefer Argentine cuisine, Lo de Jesús also has delivery. And for dessert, Rapanui’s chocolates are a classic: boxes with dulce de leche, chocolate mosaics, all quite affordable.
For those who don’t make it by the 14th, yes, there are options, I saw that Ronda at DOT is doing outdoor cinema on the 22nd on their terrace. They show a romantic movie on an LED screen, with chill ambiance, carpets, and cushions, and they give you a drink and popcorn. It costs around 30,000 per person. The address is Vedia 3600, so if you pass by Vedia 3600 in CABA, you can check it out. They also have free parking with Appa.
And if you have the budget and want to travel, Loi Suites Iguazú in Misiones is next level. Three-course dinner, welcome drink, a bottle of wine per couple, saxophone show, all for 180,000. If you add a relaxing spa, it’s an extra 105,000. The Misiones jungle is the best for relaxing.
Anyway, what I learned is that celebrating doesn’t have to be on the 14th or be expensive. There are options for all tastes and budgets. The important thing is that it’s with who you want, at the time you decide.
