Hey, I recently saw that Mexico City was under cold alert a few months ago. Things got serious, and they activated two different alerts depending on the area. In Tlalpan and Milpa Alta, it was more critical with temperatures of 1 to 3 degrees, while in other districts like Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, and the rest, temperatures hovered around 4 to 6 degrees.
The interesting part is that the cold in Mexico City was mainly concentrated in the early morning and morning hours. Authorities issued a bunch of recommendations: dress warmly, protect children and the elderly, ventilate if using heaters, all that. Basically, the usual advice when temperatures drop.
But the most intense part was that it wasn't just the capital. The National Weather Service reported that the cold reached several regions across the country. In mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango, temperatures dropped to -15 to -10 degrees, while in other states like Jalisco and Michoacán, it ranged from -5 to 0 degrees. All caused by Cold Front No. 27 combined with a polar air mass. Quite intense, honestly.
