Recently, I came across details about one of Mexico's darkest episodes. Miguel Ángel Treviño Morales, known as El Z-40, left a bloody mark on the country's history. This guy was a deserter from the Army and ended up leading Los Zetas, one of the most brutal cartels.

What shocks me is how this case went unnoticed in Mexican courts for years. But now, more than a decade later, the United States is revealing what really happened. The U.S. Department of Justice is thoroughly investigating the details of the Allende massacre, the 2011 event that left around 300 dead.

Z-40's philosophy was clear: the more brutality, the greater control over the population. That was his strategy. And the Allende massacre was the most terrible proof of that logic. Women, men, children—all victims of an order aimed at sowing absolute terror.

What’s interesting now is that the U.S. has solid evidence to prove that it was El Z-40 who personally ordered and carried out this crime. That’s why they are maintaining special security measures against him, such as visitation restrictions. The Allende massacre will not be forgotten, and it seems U.S. justice is determined to fully clarify who was responsible for so much bloodshed.
