I just checked the 2026 holiday calendar released by the government, and there are quite a few days to plan around. What caught my attention the most is that they included three strategic long weekends: March 23, July 10, and December 7, basically so you can plan for long weekends whenever you feel like.
The thing is, not all holidays are the same, you know? Some holidays are fixed dates (like Christmas, Independence Day), and then there are movable holidays that the government can shift to a different day. And well, there are also non-working days that are at the employer's discretion whether you work or not.
In March, there's the 24th, which is the Day of Memory; in July, the 9th is Independence Day. For the November holiday, the 23rd is National Sovereignty Day, so you can plan that Monday with peace of mind. If you work as an employee, remember that on a national holiday you get double pay if you work, but on non-working days, it's regular salary.
Honestly, it's well thought out for tourism, but we'll have to see exactly what happens with the movable holidays because the government hasn't clearly defined how they will work yet.
