I just realized that I’ve probably been using the heart emojis on WhatsApp incorrectly all this time, hahaha. It’s not just red for everything; it turns out each color has its own meaning for heart emojis, and I’ve been sending the same one everywhere without really knowing what I’m communicating.
For example, red is obvious—intense love and passion. But orange is for friends without romantic feelings, yellow for pure friendship. And here’s the interesting part: blue represents deep loyalty, green is related to nature or even mild jealousy. I never thought about that. Violet is for admiration and complex feelings, black for mourning or dark humor. Quite poetic if you think about it.
There are also more creative versions like the flaming heart for intense emotions, the beating heart when you’re excited about someone, and the arrowed heart, which is like love at first sight. The bandaged one is for comforting someone who’s feeling down. Honestly, understanding the meaning behind heart emojis changes everything because now I realize how much context we transmit without even knowing it.
My question: do you use these emojis knowing what they mean, or have you also been flying blind like me?
