I'm currently reading an analysis from CNN about Trump's recent speech, and there's something interesting. The guy spoke for almost two hours, bragging about economic successes, but analysts point out the lack of a clear agenda for the Republicans themselves.

The point is that the speech mainly focused on his personal achievements. Meanwhile, GOP candidates need something they can rally around in the campaign. The topic of deportation? Mentioned, but without delving into the details that people are actually asking about.

What struck me is that when a journalist asked about a specific stance on ICE or DHS actions, the response was that voters look at results, not processes. Fair point, but do voters actually see those results? According to recent polls—not entirely. Most agree that the immigration issue exists and support Trump’s actions, but when it comes to how it was carried out in practice, opinions are more mixed.

This shows that a year to the day (ytd)—looking at the results of the second presidential term—there’s a lack of clear communication about what’s next. Republicans are searching for an agenda they can sell to voters, not just defending what has already happened. This could be a problem in the midterm campaign if a clear plan for the future doesn’t emerge.
