I just found out that the State of Mexico is now fully in the 2026 replacement program, and there are some benefits that not everyone knows about. Basically, if your license plate is from 2021 or earlier, you have until August to regularize and get a tax forgiveness. The thing is, it depends on when you do it. If you already paid the 2025 vehicle tax before the new year, you get 100% forgiveness on the ISAVAU. But if you do it between January and April (like now), it drops to 50%. Still worth it if you have overdue payments. What's interesting about the 2026 Edomex replacement program is that it also covers full forgiveness of vehicle tax, renewal fees, and accessories from previous years. For plates that expired in 2025, the scheme changes but coverage is still available. The government has a schedule based on the last digit of your plate, so not everyone goes at the same time. Endings 1 and 2 go in April, 3 and 4 in May, and so on until August when everything closes. The process can be done online or in person at the Fiscal Service Centers. You need proof of ownership, valid ID, proof of address, and the old plates or a loss certificate. If you have questions, you can call 070 or check the official website. Honestly, many people don’t know that plates from September to December 2021 are still valid, so it’s a good idea to double-check the dates before going. It’s not the most exciting thing, but if you have overdue payments, these benefits of the 2026 replacement program can lift a weight off your shoulders.
