So I was just looking back at that Canelo vs Crawford fight from last September and honestly it was wild how much buildup there was. The match went down on Sept 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas, and if you missed it, the main card started streaming on Netflix at 9 PM ET that night. The actual Canelo vs Crawford fight didn't start until around 11 PM though depending on how long the undercard ran.
What's crazy is Crawford jumped up three weight classes just to fight Canelo for those four super middleweight titles - WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF. Both guys came in at 167.5 pounds at the weigh-in. Canelo's record was 63-2-2 with 39 KOs going in, and Crawford was undefeated. They were really hyping this as one of the biggest fights in years.
The card was stacked too. You had Callum Walsh vs Fernando Vargas Jr in the co-main, then Christian Mbilli defending his WBC interim title against Lester Martinez, plus Mohammed Alakel fighting as well. If you wanted to catch the prelims earlier, those streamed at 5:30 PM ET on Netflix and their YouTube page.
Need a Netflix subscription to watch though - they weren't doing free trials for this one. Pretty legendary matchup to have at Allegiant Stadium since it was their first boxing event since opening in 2020.
