ME News message, April 3 (UTC+8). On Friday, U.S. President Trump released an overview of the FY2027 budget proposal, planning to request $1.5 trillion in defense spending—a figure that is arguably the highest in modern history. This preliminary plan did not disclose many key details, including the overall spending level and long-term projections for federal revenue. According to this defense budget proposal, the next fiscal year would allocate $1.1 trillion to the U.S. Department of Defense, with an additional $350 billion earmarked for the procurement of critical munitions, the expansion of the defense industrial base, and other related items. As early as January of this year—before the U.S. launched a large-scale strike against Iran—Trump had already promised to submit a $1.5 trillion defense budget request. This budget will also provide funding for part of the government’s new initiatives, including $30 million to support a newly established National Fraud Investigation Bureau led by Vice President JD Vance, and $10 billion in mandatory funding to establish a Presidential Capital Management Program within the National Park Service, for construction and beautification projects in Washington, D.C.
