(MENAFN) The Israel military carried out shelling in eastern Gaza on Wednesday, demolishing several buildings across the enclave, marking the latest breach of a ceasefire that has been in place since October 10, 2025.

Witnesses and local sources reported that the attacks concentrated on areas under Israeli control in the east, where the intensity of shelling has escalated over recent weeks. Artillery fire and gunfire continued throughout the day and into the evening, accompanied by heavy movements of Israeli military vehicles near what is referred to as the “yellow line.”

The “yellow line” demarcates positions from which Israeli forces withdrew under the ceasefire, separating zones under full Israeli control from areas where Palestinian residents are permitted to remain. Reports indicate that Israel continues to control approximately 53% of Gaza’s eastern territory.

In the southern city of Khan Younis, the Israeli army conducted three demolition operations targeting buildings and facilities in the eastern parts of the city.

Additional shelling hit neighborhoods including Bani Suheila, Sheikh Nasser, and Tahliya east of Khan Younis, as well as Qizan Rashwan and Qizan al-Najjar to the south. Witnesses also reported that Israeli forces deployed illumination flares over the eastern areas.
