The Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Department organized a symposium on the comprehensive utilization of waste tires.

To promote high-quality development of the comprehensive utilization industry for used tires, on March 17, 2026, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization convened a symposium on work related to the comprehensive utilization of used tires. Representatives from relevant industry associations, research institutions, key enterprises, and others attended the meeting. At the meeting, the representatives focused on areas including tire retreading, regenerated rubber, rubber powder, and thermal pyrolysis, and introduced the current domestic and international development status of the comprehensive utilization industry for used tires, innovation and application of process technologies and equipment, digital transformation, the development of a standards framework, and the promotion and application of regenerated products, among other matters. They also analyzed and assessed the opportunities and challenges faced by the industry development under the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” period, and put forward policy recommendations to help drive the high-quality development of comprehensive utilization of used tires in China. In the next step, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization will conduct in-depth research into the used tire comprehensive utilization industry, further strengthen policy guidance, improve the relevant standards framework, enhance standardized industry management, increase the promotion and application of advanced technologies, and continuously raise the level of comprehensive utilization of used tires.
