Just caught some interesting labor market data out of Egypt. The unemployment rate there hit 6.2% in Q4 2025, which is apparently the lowest we've seen in the country's modern history. Seems like their economic reforms are actually starting to work after dealing with some pretty rough inflation issues.

What stood out to me though is the gender gap that's still pretty wide. Out of 35 million people in the workforce, only about 7.9 million are women. The rural areas account for nearly 20 million workers, which shows how much of Egypt's economy is still agriculture-based. Agriculture, forestry and fishing alone employ around 6.6 million people.

The Egypt unemployment rate situation is definitely improving compared to where it was, though it's still about 1% higher than Q4 2024. Interesting timing too - they just reshuffled their cabinet with new ministers handling investment, planning and trade. Combined with the IMF potentially unlocking $2.5 billion in funding, it seems like they're making a real push to stabilize the economy. Inflation dropped from 38% down to 24% by December, which is a pretty significant move.
