(MENAFN) Serbia has agreed to prolong its natural gas supply deal with Russia for an additional three months, President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Monday.

Speaking after a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Vucic described the extension as secured under “very favorable conditions.”

He emphasized that energy was a central topic during the discussion, alongside other issues, highlighting the deal’s importance for Serbia’s economy. “We discussed literally all areas,” Vucic said, adding that he had expressed gratitude to Putin for approving the extension.

The leaders also addressed regional and international developments, with Vucic briefing Putin on military cooperation involving Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia.

Serbia continues to depend on Russia for its energy needs. Vucic noted that securing access to natural gas under flexible and advantageous terms remains vital for the country.
