Guangxi: Actively promote the construction of China-Vietnam cross-border railways, deep-water channels, large-capacity terminals, inland river projects, and freight distribution systems.
On March 26, Wei Tao, Chairman of the autonomous region, presided over a special study meeting on key work for the 2026 Western Land–Sea New Corridor, and deployed key tasks such as building it at a high level and promoting the construction of the Pinglu Canal Economic Belt to a high standard. Wei Tao emphasized that the construction of the Western Land–Sea New Corridor is a systematic project that requires all levels and all departments in the entire region to fulfill their responsibilities and work in close coordination. We must race against time to tackle key challenges and spare no effort to ensure the completion and opening to navigation of the backbone project—the Pinglu Canal—and the “second-half work.” We should work backward from the schedule to drive engineering construction, focus on both the supply and demand sides to strengthen transport capacity support and cargo sourcing, and build a canal economic belt characterized by smooth internal circulation and external connectivity, thriving commerce, and flourishing industries. We must formulate toll and fee policies in accordance with the law and regulations, reduce social logistics costs, and make vigorous efforts to increase public awareness and broaden coverage of the canal economic belt. We must coordinate overall planning and advance implementation, take comprehensive account of the layout and development of ports, terminals, waterways, railways, and other infrastructure, and actively promote the construction of China–Vietnam cross-border railways, deep-water channels and high-capacity terminal projects, inland waterway projects, and the collection and distribution transportation system, among others, to comprehensively enhance the capacity of infrastructure such as port hubs.
